Laura Haney has been a Research and Compliance Assistant for Porzio Governmental Affairs, LLC. since January of 2020. Ms. Haney assists the team and its clients by tracking key legislative hearings and executive branch meetings, creating briefing documents and content to be distributed to legislators, and putting together research reports on issues such as disability, health and human services, education, technology, and financial regulatory policy. Ms. Haney also works with PGA affiliate, Porzio Compliance Services on background research, program management, and marketing projects in the realm of data privacy, cybersecurity, and school safety and security.
Prior to joining Porzio, Ms. Haney worked with Considine Communication Strategies on research contributing to published reports on special education policy and school safety of students with disabilities. Ms. Haney also completed public policy and research internships with the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities, the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia and RespectAbility in Washington, D.C. In these positions, she advocated directly with both state and federal legislators on a variety of disability policy issues, wrote op-eds and press releases, and managed youth engagement with grassroots advocacy programs.
Ms. Haney earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with minors in English and Communication Studies from Saint Joseph’s University in 2019. She is also a 2020 graduate of the New Jersey Partners in Policymaking Program (Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Boggs Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities).
