Barbara DeMarco is a Governmental Affairs Consultant and Strategist who specializes in gaming, technology, education reform and agriculture policy as well as procurement and corporate development issues.

Considered one of the state’s premiere state lobbyists on casino, pari-mutuel and internet gaming, Ms. DeMarco has seen over three dozen gaming related bills signed into law since she began working on these issues in 1997. Barbara has authored numerous articles, OP ED’s and guest columns on both gaming and racing for every major newspaper in New Jersey. Currently, she is regular contributor to EGR North America and Gambling Compliance. She also has written extensively on the state’s agricultural industries from cranberry growing and production to horse breeding. She has been interviewed on NJ101.5 and NJN News and has appeared on various regional cable and news programs speaking on both policy and politics.

Focused on education reform and school choice policy, Ms. DeMarco believes that a student’s individual needs should drive school placement and curriculum. Barbara chaired the New Jersey School Choice and Education Reform Alliance’s Subcommittees on preschool education and special education. She authored the SCA’s transition recommendations to Governor Christie on these important issues.

Barbara has served as a Commissioner on the Mercer County Improvement Authority as well as the Hun School of Princeton’s Board of Trustees. She has won numerous statewide awards for her work including The Arc of New Jersey’s Spirit of the Arc Award, RESOLVE’S Star of the Year Award and the Hun School of Princeton’s Alumna of the Year Award. Since 2013, she has consistently been listed on Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg's list of the most powerful and influential women in Trenton for PolitkerNJ.

Prior to joining PGA, Ms. DeMarco worked as an independent governmental affairs consultant and lobbyist. She also served as Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Nancy H. Becker Associates and Director of Legislative and Advocacy Services for the ARC of New Jersey. In addition, she served as an aide to Governor Thomas H.Kean and Speaker Chuck Hardwick.

Barbara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Fine Arts from Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA. In her junior year at Dickinson, Ms. DeMarco was awarded an internship with the United Nations in Vienna, Austria working in their Disabled Persons Unit. She was also named a Lindback Scholarship finalist. Since graduating from college, she has accumulated credits toward a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Rutgers University.
