A former New Jersey State Senator representing the 24th Legislative District, Steve served with distinction from 2008 to 2023, culminating in his role as Senate Republican Leader. During his 16-year tenure in the Senate, Steve was a champion for local businesses, economic development, and fiscal responsibility.
Recognized for his pragmatic approach to governance, Steve played a pivotal role in creating and advancing legislation to make New Jersey businesses more competitive. Among his many accomplishments was the passage of laws benefiting limited liability companies, partnerships, and sole proprietors, particularly those navigating operating losses. His efforts extended to regulatory reform, where he co-authored the Red Tape Review Commission to streamline and modernize New Jersey’s regulatory environment.
Steve began his public service journey in local government, serving on the Franklin Borough Council and the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, where he established a reputation for dedication and community-focused leadership.
With a degree in accounting from Saint Francis University and credentials as a Certified Financial Planner and Certified Public Accountant, Steve brought deep financial expertise to his legislative work. He was a longstanding member of the Senate Budget Committee, where his colleagues valued his insight and leadership. His contributions were honored with a Senate Resolution, recognizing his exceptional dedication to public service.
