Porzio Governmental Affairs client Theory Wellness, joined by local officials, marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of their Trenton cannabis dispensary, the first in the State’s capital city. On Thursday, April 25, Theory Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Nick Friedman along with PGA Representatives Lynn Nowak and Beau Huch, were joined by esteemed guests including Mayor Reed Gusciora, Councilwoman Jennifer Williams, Cannabis Advisory Committee Chair Ken Wolski and Committee member Joel Smith.
PGA has been instrumental in guiding Theory Wellness since 2019 when the company applied for a central New Jersey medical dispensary license under the Department of Health’s Request for Applications. Despite delays stemming from litigation, Theory emerged as one of the 30 dispensary winners statewide and one of the 10 in the central region, as announced by the Cannabis Regulatory Commission in December 2021.
Working closely with Theory Wellness and city officials, PGA facilitated the attainment of local approvals, enabling the commencement of operations catering initially to medical card holders. Pending anticipated approval by the CRC, Theory is poised to extend its services to recreational cannabis users in the near future.
